Old World

You try to get along. Mix in. Be part of the whole. But sometimes, you have to move against the grain, say piss off, go away, sorry I was here first to the nice German woman pleading for your seat.

World Cup Quarterfinals.

Pre-lameness

Friday morning. Woke up early to meet Aaron at the bar. Reminiscent of last Friday. Yep, Brazil was playing again and we were there to see them lose with a hundred other World Cup fans. It was sad I have to admit, I was looking forward to a Germany Brazil final, so I played along with the crowd. Truth is, I read a lot of shit online that had me sending a flurry of texts to friend in Vegas putting 100 bucks on the Dutch to win. Who does that? Gamblers I suppose, and me, at least this week that is. Not sure how that'll turn out, but who cares, my ego was wafting with confidence on idea that I actually had some sort of insight that others didn't see. Then again, it could have gone either way.

What is this, a soccer blog? Okay, after the game I grabbed my board and met another friend on the north side. Party weekend was already starting up, junior life guards, NSSA Championships, HSS Surf School and a host of beach goers were all on it. Total zoo, but still fun. I'd give it 5.4 on 1-10 scale and my surfing a 7.8.

In the office now on a day off, trying to pull together ideas for a Tuesday morning meeting in Sacramento. Who does that? Booking a post holiday meeting first thing on the day back, and in another city even.

Ugh. Minus 26 and loving the shit out of it, everyday.

6 Down - Feeling it

New pad is working out well.  Took our dog on a run on my skater this morning while I watched the crowded waves - the spotted dude is so outta shape!  This morning was good and I was on it at 5:30.  Surfed until about 7 when it was completely packed out.  Chest high with really good shape.  I had an 8 point ride this morning.  Massive carve to tail release, full rail cut back off the white water hard, two pumps and then blow the tail.  Surfing really well today.  No leash, lost my board once and didn't hold back.  That has me feeling it.  Looking forward to surfing with homey this weekend, it should be fun.  Maybe Dume.  Maybe somewhere else, I don't know.

Back in the saddle... 6 down

I've been keeping a running total in my head.  Made up some ground in Tavi, lost some recently.  6 down.  Fun this morning.  Had some waist high runners with 2 - 3 snaps felt good on the komp.  So stoked to get back on the contest circuit!  Can't wait until August to fire back up!  New apartment, wife, dog.  Getting settled, so stoked.  Oh and I cannot wait until I have internet and TV tomorrow.  That will be awesome.  You don't know until you don't have it for 2 weeks.

150 deep?

Sunday evening, post double session at Trestles, Aaron guides us to Laguna for a poki sampling that proves to be nearly fatal to my lower intestines, or maybe it was the fried sweet potatoes, or the 47 ounces of Pari Pari hot sauce I poured on everything including my finger.

Monday night, north side, overhead, five guys out and every one of them including myself were total dick heads.

Tuesday morning, saw Steve, Dave Turbo and Kelly from HSS. The swell is dwindling, as are my hopes for complete world domination.

Wednesday morning, no go, stuffed full of bbq corn, pupusas and huntington beach tools, i either hate my town or i hate people as a general rule of thumb.

Holding at minus 26 since we started counting in March, but at I figure I'm well over 150 sessions so far in 2010. Why must I count everything? My mild OCD, a tinge of Aspergers coming on, or a long string of total insanity that is slowly coming out as I approach the half way point, all valid assumptions.

A bomb comes in.

And I burn some guy to get it. Blatantly. Dipped him in oil, flocked him, poured gas over him, looked him in the eye, and threw a match at his feet. So bad. He went anyway and I went completely out of control and ran right into him at full speed. It was bad. It looked more like football than surfing.

Aside from that, Trestles was really good yesterday.

USA Nationals

Olson and I got the nod from the Greg at the WSA, qualifying us for a shot at the national title. Anybody that knows me and my surfing knows I didn't have chance in hell, but its still fun trying. Hundred and fifty bucks for twenty minutes of two Hawaiians hand feeding me my ass. First round blow out. Sixth place overall Mens Masters finish. Minus 22. Suck it.
